Iranian First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri

Iran's First Vice President has stressed that everything which can be done is being done to help flood victims throughout the country.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iran’s First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri, in separate phone calls with 9 provincial governors, stressed that every means at our disposal will be used, and every assistance which can be given will be given, to all those who have been affected by recent floods and heavy rain in various provinces of the country.

Jahangiri said the necessary orders have been issued and help is on its way to flood victims.

In separate phone calls with governors of Khouzestan, Bushehr, Hormozgan, Kermanshah, Kurdistan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Hamedan, Isfahan, and East Azerbaijan provinces, Jahangiri was informed about the latest situation in the province, the damage caused by flooding and heavy rain, how aid was being distributed to flood victims, and the level of readiness of aid and relief workers to deal with other natural disasters and emergencies which may arise.

The first vice president urged provincial governors to do everything they can to drain floodwaters in cities and towns as soon as possible and to prevent further damage being done to residential homes and buildings.

Jahangiri also emphasized that everything must be done to clear floodwaters and to reopen flooded roads and highways so that vital aid can be brought in from neighboring provinces and distributed among flood victims.

In the last few days, heavy torrential downpours have caused flooding in at least 9 Iranian provinces, mostly in central and western Iran.
