The Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani

The Iranian Parliament Speaker has said contrary to what the World Bank is claiming that Iran has been downgraded in the field of governance, the country has actually improved in some fields and some World Bank definitions are not acceptable to Iran.

Iran Press/Iran News: The Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani made the remarks on Monday at the first conference on Islamic Governance in Tehran, saying: "World Bank believes that for the past 15 years, we have been downgrading in the field of governance; but it should be noted that these are average scores and we have improved in some fields. It should also be noted that some of these definitions are not acceptable to us."

During the conference held at Supreme National Defense University, Larijani commemorated the beginning of the Islamic Unity Week and the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (blessings of God upon him and his progeny) and Imam Jafar Sadegh (PBUH).

"Increasing public awareness of the country's governance structure has made the public no longer accept traditional structures. The turbulent change in communications and the intertwining of governance issues have led governments to unilaterally resolve issues and led people to disapprove of the previous structures," he added.
