US unilateralism weakens international agreements: UN envoy

Iran's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations said that the US unilateral actions have weakened international agreements.

Iran PressAmerica: At the Fourth meeting of the UN General Assembly on Monday, Iran's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Es'hagh Alehabib warned that US government's shameful unilateral actions at the international level could have huge consequences for international peace, security and development.

At the meeting, Alehabib urged the global communications center to increase awareness of the international community about negative impact of unilateral violent measures on the economic and social growth of the target countries.

The high ranking diplomat also called for the promotion of all initiatives aimed at preserving and promoting international peace and security, noting that the Iranian delegation emphasized the importance of promoting such initiatives as the 'World Against Violence and Extremism' (WAVE) and the 'Dialogue of Civilizations'.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran continues to emphasize that the United Nations has an important responsibility for the Palestinian issue," Alehabib added.

According to Iranian official, Iran fully supports increasing international awareness of the negative consequences of the Palestinian occupation and the sanctions against Palestinians. 207/209
