Tehran (IP) -The Director of the United Nations Information centre in Tehran, Maria Dotsenko has emphasised that peace is a core value of the United Nations, and that the United Nations was created to keep and to promote peace.

Iran press/Iran news: Speaking on the sidelines of the "World Peace Day Conference and Climate Action for Peace" in Tehran on Saturday, Maria Dotsenko said in an exclusive interview with Iran Press that Iran was one of the founding member states of the United Nations.

She went on to quote Mohammad Javad Zarif the Iranian foreign minister as saying:"Peace is very important".

Dotsenko praised the Islamic Republic of Iran for promoting peace in the region, and emphasised that 2019 marks the 74th anniversary of the foundation of the United Nations.

Every year, 21 September has been designated as World Peace Day, and special ceremonies are held throughout the world to promote peace.
