Persian art or Iranian art has one of the richest art heritages in world history and has been strong in many media including architecture, painting, weaving, pottery, calligraphy, metalworking, and sculpture. At different times, influences from the art of neighboring civilizations have been very important, and Persian art gave and received major influences as part of the wider styles of Islamic art.

Light, color, and water are the three aesthetic elements of Islamic architecture. Light is the most important characteristic of Iranian architecture and a symbol of divine wisdom. The color comes from the light revolution and the water is the image of nature in Islamic architecture. One of the most important principles of Islamic-Iranian architecture is the principle of transparency. Introspection is another Islamic-Iranian architectural principle.

Allah is at the heart of worship and aspirations for Muslims and is the focus of their lives. Islamic art focuses on the spiritual representation of objects and beings, and not their physical qualities.
