Iran Press/ America: EU foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell addressed a UN Security Council meeting on Thursday, without elaborating on Europe's commitment to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), he stated progress has been made in the Vienna talks to revive the nuclear deal, but negotiations are continuing.
Senior diplomats from JCPOA member states have gathered in Vienna over the past month to revive the agreement which the United States withdrew unilaterally during Donald Trump's presidency.
During the last meeting of the JCPOA Joint Commission in Vienna, the delegations expressed their satisfaction with the progress made in reviving the deal and reaffirmed their determination to follow the negotiations process with the aim of finding solutions to several issues that have not yet been resolved.
Former United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, unilaterally withdrew from the 2015 Iran Nuclear Deal and announced the return of nuclear sanctions, in violation of Washington's commitments under the JCPOA.
Iran fully complied with its obligations under the nuclear deal within a year of the US's illegal withdrawal from the JCPOA and gave European countries a chance to live up to their commitments.
One year after the European governments failed to deliver on their promises, Tehran announced that it would gradually reduce its obligations under Articles 26 and 36 of the agreement to strike a balance between its obligations and the received rights.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has also stated that it will not accept any new conditions or demands for the return of the United States to the JCPOA. 219
