Hamadan (IP)- Each year, the birth anniversary of Avicenna, also known as Ibn Sina, on August 23 is commemorated as National Doctor's Day in Iran.

Iran PressIran news: Avicenna is regarded as the father of modern medicine for introducing systematic experimentation and quantification into the study of physiology and contributing to the discovery of contagious diseases.

Avicenna's Tomb is one of the world-famous sightseeing and tourist places in the center of the historical and civilizational city of Hamadan, west of Iran.

This year, many individuals, including tourists, visited the Tomb of an Iranian doctor to commemorate Doctor's Day.

When tourists visit Hamadan, a top priority for many is to visit the Tomb of the Iranian philosopher and physician and to learn about the rich history of medical science production in Iran.

The Qaboos dome tower inspired the Tower of Tomb. It features 12 columns that symbolize the twelve pieces of knowledge of the philosopher.

The place is registered in the list of national monuments. Ibn Sina is one of the most famous philosophers in Iran, and his book titled The Law is one of the most prominent medical books taught in many universities worldwide.

He passed away on 22 June 1037 at the age of 58.
