Guwahati, India (IP) -Torrential rains have triggered devastating floods in the Indian state of Assam, affecting more than 400,000 people across 19 districts and claiming the lives of at least 40 individuals.

Iran PressAsia: The State Disaster Response Force has been working tirelessly to rescue people stranded in the floodwaters, which have submerged streets and homes throughout the affected areas. The flood situation remains grim, with the districts of Bajali, Baksa, Barpeta, Biswanath, Cachar, Darrang, Goalpara, Hailakandi, Hojai, Kamrup, Karimganj, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sonitpur, South Salmara, Tamulpur, and Udalguri all facing the brunt of the disaster.

Visuals from the affected areas show rescue workers navigating through the flooded streets, attempting to reach those in need of assistance. The flood has caused widespread damage to infrastructure and disrupted the lives of thousands of residents.

The Indian government has deployed resources and personnel to provide relief and aid to the affected communities. However, the scale of the disaster remains overwhelming, with the need for immediate and sustained support to the people of Assam.
