Iran Press/Iran news: The sixth round of political consultations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Uzbekistan was held in Tehran on Monday, chaired by Abbas Araghchi and Furqat Sidiqov, the two countries' deputy foreign ministers.
During the meeting, Araghchi and Sidiqov exchanged views on a wide range of bilateral, regional and international issues.
The two sides stressed the need to expand relations in the fields of transport, trade, culture, tourism, and law.
Referring to the threat of terrorism and extremism in the region, they discussed the need for cooperation to strengthen regional peace and stability.
Referring to the good volume of trade between the two countries despite the spread of coronavirus, Araghchi considered Uzbekistan as one of the important trading partners of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During the meeting, the Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister expressed his country's readiness to develop comprehensive relations in all areas, calling for speeding up the implementation of the roadmap for economic cooperation between the two countries.
Araghchi also provided his Uzbek counterpart with the latest developments related to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
