At least 15 people have been killed and several others injured in a car bomb blast on a busy street in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu, officials and witnesses say.

Iran Press/Africa: The Thursday afternoon explosion on Mogadishu’s Maka al-Mukarama road sent a huge cloud of smoke into the sky and destroyed two restaurants and cars parked in the area.

Abdulkadir Abdirahman Adan, director of the Aamin Ambulance service, told AFP that 15 people had been killed, as well as several more wounded by the blast.

The blast is the latest in a recent string of bombings in the capital, which has regularly been the target of attacks by al-Shabab terrorists.

Somalia has in recent years faced an insurgency by the Al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabab militant group, as well as famine and maritime piracy.

Moreover, Daesh terrorist group after removing from Iraq and Syria started his activity in African countries especially in Somalia.

According to many reports, a bloody rivalry erupted between terrorist groups in Somalia as the al-Qaida-linked al-Shabab hunts upstart fighters allied to the Daesh, who have begun demanding protection payments from major businesses.105
