Armenia's acting Prime Minister in an interview with Russia24 television said that Iran is an important partner for his country.

Asia: In this interview on Wednesday, "Nikol Pashinyan", pointing to the temporary agreement leading to the establishment of a Free Trade Zone between Iran and the Eur-Asian Economic Union (EAEU), said that the agreement on free trade zone is a good opportunity for Iran to start an effective partnership with the Eurasian Union, Iran Press reported.

According to Pashinyan, warm and good neighbourly relations between Iran and Armenia will lead to further development of relations between the Eurasian Union and Iran.

Armenia's acting prime minister also described Iran as a very important partner for his country and said: "Considering the problems that both Iran and the Eurasian Union have in their relations with United States, such a partnership makes sense and is a good prospect for both the Eurasian Union and the Islamic Republic of Iran."

Pashinyan went on to describe Iran as an important economic and trade partner for his country, and talked about his meeting with Iranian president Hassan Rouhani on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly in New York in September.

The two senior officials discussed issues of mutual interest as well as regional cooperation between Tehran and Yerevan.

Earlier, on May 17 in Astana, a temporarily agreement on the creation of a free trade zone for the term of three years was signed by the Eurasian Union and Iran.
