Hormozgan(IP)- The Chief Justice of Hormozgan Province, South of Iran, announced the seizure of five vessels carrying smuggled fuel and the discovery of more than 400,000 liters of diesel in the waters of the Persian Gulf.

Iran PressIran News: Mojtabi Ghahramani, Chief Justice of Hormozgan Province, said on Tuesday: "In line with the decisive and serious confrontation with fuel smuggling, aimed at hitting the financial foundations of smugglers, the 412th Zulfiqar naval forces of the 4th region of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps Navy, after identifying 5 vessels carrying smuggled fuel in the waters of the Persian Gulf, seized them."

Referring to the arrest of 23 smugglers, Ghahramani added: "During the inspection of these vessels, more than 400,000 liters of smuggled fuel were discovered and confiscated."

The Chief Justice of Hormozgan Province stated that the perpetrators of organized fuel smuggling are sentenced to confiscation of the property resulting from the crime in addition to fines and imprisonment.

He further reiterated: "In line with the implementation of Article 20 of the Anti-Trafficking Law, vessels involved in smuggling will also be confiscated for the benefit of the government."

Elsewhere the Chief Justice of Hormozgan emphasized: "The judiciary of this province, in cooperation with the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps and the Admiralty of the Police Force, has a strategy to deal with the organization's smuggling. He will resolutely continue finding fuel in the coastal strip and the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman and will not hesitate for a moment in order to protect the interests and capitals of the Iranian nation."
