Iran Press/ Iran news: Addressing the French authorities, Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Nasser Kanaani wrote on his Twitter account on Sunday that France, with its black historical record of colonialism, violation of human rights and freedom of expression at home and abroad, has no right to justify the brazen insult to sanctities of other countries and nations and followers of divine religions under the pretext of freedom of expression.
Kanaani added that what the current French authorities must observe are the obvious and fundamental principles in international relations, namely mutual respect, not interfering in others' internal affairs, and respect for the national values and sanctities of others.
Furthermore, Iran has summoned the French ambassador to Tehran over ‘insulting’ Charlie Hebdo cartoons.
French envoy Nicolas Roche was summoned over the insults and was told: “The Islamic Republic of Iran brooks by no means any insults to its sanctities, and Islamic, religious, and national values.”
The condemnation comes as Charlie Hebdo published several insulting cartoons of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a special issue this week.
