The Iraqi Islamic resistance forces, known as Al-Nujaba, fired a number of missiles at Daesh (also known as ISIS) terrorist positions in Deir az-Zour in Syria on Wednesday night. The surprise attack killed at least six Daesh terrorists.

Middle East: According to an Iran Press report, the Iraqi Islamic resistance movement, known as Al-Nujaba, issued a statement on Thursday morning confirming the firing of a number of missiles at Daesh terrorist positions in the village of al-Baghouz, near the town of Bukamal, south of Deir az-Zour province in Syria.

The Al-Nujaba Islamic resistance movement said at least six Daesh terrorists were killed in the missile strikes.

Wednesday night's missile strikes were part of a joint effort by the Syrian and Iraqi governments in the fight against terrorism in Syria.

The Syrian government is currently trying to expel pockets of terrorists which are still dotted around the country. Iran, Iraq and Russia are assisting the Syrian government in its on-going fight against terrorists.

All Syrian provinces are now under the control of the government in Damascus, except one -- Idlib province which is still controlled by terrorists. However pockets of terrorists are still active in other Syrian provinces, such as Deir az-Zour.

The Syrian crisis started in 2011, when various terrorist groups armed and trained by United States, Britain, France, Saudi Arabia and Qatar attacked Syria, capturing large swathes of Syrian territory, and attempting to overthrow the democratically-elected government of Syrian president, Bashar Al-Assad. This was an attempt by the West to strengthen the Zionist regime, and change regional equations in Israel's favour by setting up an 'Israeli-dependent and Israeli-friendly terrorist state' in Syria. However, the terrorists were ultimately unsuccessful and the Syrian government, with Russian and Iranian support, managed to defeat the terrorists.
