Iran PressIran News: Ta'zieh is a traditional Shi'a-Iranian ritual usually portrayed in the Tragedy of Karbala and the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his family. Ta'zieh means comfort, condolence, or expression of pain. It comes from the roots of Aza, which implies mourning. Ta'zieh is a religious show inspired by the incidents of Ashura and the event of Karbala to mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and 72 of his companions.

"Sangalaj Theater showroom in Tehran hosted a ceremony to honor Ta'zieh's (lamentation) reading on Saturday night with the presence of the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance and elite artists.

He added: "Ta'zieh" is not an ordinary show. People mourn by attending the "Ta'zieh" and recall the sufferings of Imam Hossein's family."

Esmaili said: "The only thing we do is to facilitate and remove obstacles so that artists can present their works in this unique art."

"Ta'zieh is a combination between art and religion."

The minister noted: "Many governments opposed such gatherings throughout history, but today, thanks to the Islamic Revolution, these gatherings are ongoing."

He emphasized: "Ta'zieh artists are a big social group in Iran and this ceremony is a symbol to celebrate the noble art."
