Nairobi (IP) - Kenyan Shia Muslims, alongside the other followers of Imam Hussein (PBUH) worldwide, held mourning rituals of Muharram on Ashura day in Nairobi, the capital of the country.

Iran PressAfrica: Imam Hussein was martyred along with 72 of his companions during a last-stand battle of Karbala against the tyrant of the time, Yazid I, more than thirteen centuries ago. 

Imam Hussein (AS) was martyred for justice and peace, for the betterment of humanity.

Husseini mourners in Nairobi participated in the Ashura Day Procession and recited poems about Imam Hussein and his companions.

Muslims are a minority in Kenya, but the government grants them full rights to celebrate their religious ceremonies.
