Iraq's foreign ministry spokesman Ahmad Mahjoub said on Wednesday evening that Iraq's ambassador to Tehran has been recalled to Baghdad.

Iran Press- Middle East/ Iraq's foreign ministry expressed sorrow about the irresponsible behaviour of the ambassador in Tehran concerning Iraqi citizens, according to a statement published in the foreign ministry website.

The statement added that Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari has recalled the ambassador for his inappropriate behaviour towards Iraqi citizens and added that an investigation concerning the issue is continuing and necessary legal actions will be taken, IRNA reported.

Mahjoub stressed that foreign ministry has asked all its diplomatic missions to offer as many services to Iraqi citizens as possible, and to help them. He said Iraq's embassy in Tehran should also work like other Iraqi diplomatic missions abroad and serve the Iraqi people.

The statement did not elaborate on the details of the ambassador's behaviour in Tehran.
