Tehran (IP) – Iran's Foreign Minister has called on Sweden to release Hamid Nouri, The Iranian citizen imprisoned in the European country, promptly and without delay.

Iran PressIran News: Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, in response to a phone call from his Swedish counterpart Ann Linde on Wednesday, referred to the trial of Hamid Nouri, an Iranian citizen in Sweden, and said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran considers the arrest and trial of Nouri illegal and demands his immediate release."

"It is sorrowful that a terrorist group [MKO] whose crimes against the people of Iran and even Iraq were crystal clear during Saddam's Ba'athist regime has taken over the artificial atmosphere of the Iranian national's court process in Sweden," the Iranian foreign minister underlined.

Amir-Abdollahian expressed hope that the relations between the two countries would expand with mutual will and efforts.

The foreign ministers of Iran and Sweden also agreed on continuing consultations and ongoing exchange of views on issues on the agenda of relations between the two countries.

Last week, the Swedish ambassador to Tehran was summoned to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the arrest of Hamid Nouri, an Iranian national imprisoned in Sweden, and was informed of Iran's strong protest against the Swedish government on the matter.
