Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov called the possibility of the expulsion of Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov from the United States a serious threat.

Iran PressEurope: In 2021, relations between the United States and Russia have escalated. In particular, in March, after US President Joe Biden called Russian President Vladimir Putin a murderer and said that he would pay for interference in the American elections, Russia summoned its Ambassador to US Antonov to Moscow for consultations.

Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev stressed that “man-made and absolutely unlawful” chaos continues in relations between Moscow and Washington on the issue of the work of diplomatic missions.

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov called the possibility of the expulsion of Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov from the United States a serious threat.

“The threat is serious,” said a Kremlin spokesman, answering a journalist’s question.

Relations between Russia and the United States remain difficult amid a lack of progress in dialogue on Moscow’s proposed security guarantees, which were sent to Washington in mid-December.  As Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov emphasized, Russia has not received an answer from the United States to its main question regarding NATO’s refusal to expand to the east. 219
