New York (IP) - Iranian and Venezuelan Foreign Ministers discussed relations between the two countries on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, emphasizing the strong and close relationship between the two countries.

Iran Press/America: During the meeting between Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Venezuelan counterpart Felix Plasencia, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister presented a report on the situation in his country, thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for its cooperation and assistance, and said that the economic situation in Venezuela is recovering.

Referring to US actions against his country, Placencia said that the US attempt to overthrow the Venezuelan revolution had failed and sent a clear message to the world.

Saying that Iran considers Venezuela its friend, Amir-Abdollahian described Venezuela's popular resistance and national victories against its enemies as the golden leaf of Venezuela's contemporary history, saying it showed that the will of the people is more robust than that of the hegemons and that whatever Washington wants will not happen.

Iran's Foreign Minister considered Venezuela to be of particular importance due to its geopolitical situation and said this could be a ground for cooperation between the two sides.
