EU move to sanction Syrian FM, reminiscent of Trump irrationality: Amir-Abdollahian

Tehran (IP) - Senior foreign advisor to Iran’s parliament speaker described the attitude to sanction the Syrian foreign minister as reminiscent of Trump's irrationality.

Iran Press/Iran News: Hossein Amir-Abdollahian stated in his tweet that Faisal Mekdad was the outspoken representative of the Syrian nation doing his job well in diplomacy and fight against terrorist Daesh (ISIS).

“We strongly condemn the EU sanction against Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad,” he noted.

He stressed that the European Union must respect diplomacy.

The European Union added Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad to its list of sanctions against individuals and legal entities over what they called the country's difficult situation.

Faisal Mekdad was appointed Syrian Foreign Minister by President Bashar al-Assad last November, following the death of Walid al-Muallem.
