Before his departure to Azerbaijan to take part in a summit of Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) member states, Iranian President described the meeting as a valuable opportunity for laying the groundwork for joint cooperation in pursuit of regional interests.

The summit can pave the way to shoring up endogenous stability and peace as a result of cooperation between Iran and its neighbors. 

 

The big picture:

The trip is described within trilateral relations among Iran, Turkey, and Pakistan, and marks the first step toward regional collaboration among ten countries. Nations such as Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan are also participating in the summit.

  • The 17th ECO Summit will be held in Azerbaijan, with ten presidents and senior officials from member states in attendance.
