In its official statement, the ministry accused the U.S. government—“in collaboration with the genocidal Zionist regime”—of committing a dangerous crime that threatens international peace and security. The statement warned that the U.S., as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, bears full responsibility for the consequences of “an unprovoked and premeditated military assault.”
Citing Article 2(4) of the UN Charter and Security Council Resolution 2231, Iran asserted that the attack constitutes a severe violation of the principle of non-use of force and an affront to the international nuclear non-proliferation framework. The Foreign Ministry further stated that Iran reserves the right to defend its sovereignty and national interests “with full force.”
The ministry urged the UN, the Security Council, the Secretary-General, the IAEA, and other relevant international bodies to take immediate action in response to the criminal breach of global norms. It also criticized the bias of the IAEA leadership, holding it responsible for creating the conditions that led to the escalation.
Calling for an emergency session of the UN Security Council, Iran demanded that the U.S. be condemned and held accountable for violating foundational international principles. The statement concluded by warning of the broader implications of international inaction, asserting that global silence in the face of such aggression would endanger peace and stability worldwide.
