The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have advanced several kilometers into the Syrian Golan and occupied the entire Syrian side of Mount Hermon's summit, Israeli media reported on Sunday.

According to the reports, Israeli occupation forces took control of the highest point of Mount Hermon within Syrian territory, an area designated as a buffer zone and under the United Nations' responsibility.

The reports also noted the presence of a UN base on the summit, responsible for overseeing the Golan Heights within Syrian territory.

The occupation of Mount Hermon follows Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement of the collapse of the 1974 disengagement agreement with Syria and his subsequent order to the IOF to "seize the buffer zone and the commanding positions."
