Iran's ambassador to Moscow, Kazem Jalali, announced that Iran's President, Masoud Pezeshkian, will visit Kazan in October 2024 to participate in the meeting of BRICS member states and will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Iran PressEurope: The BRICS group was founded in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, with South Africa joining in 2011. Iran became an official member of BRICS on January 1, 2024. This year, Russia is chairing the meeting that will take place in Kazan on October 22-24.

Jalali stressed that Pezeshkian's plans include meeting with Putin, holding talks with other Russian officials and the Iranian community, and delivering a speech at the summit.

As of January 1, 2024, the BRICS presidency was handed over to Russia, and the presidency will continue until the end of 2024, encompassing more than 200 events covering a wide range of topics.

The ambassador also stated that Iran is ready to sign a comprehensive strategic partnership pact with Russia in October at the BRICS summit in Kazan, or during another meeting between the presidents of the two countries, as soon as the document is completed.

"I believe he will participate in the BRICS summit in Kazan. We are currently preparing for this visit so that it will be useful and successful for our bilateral relations," Jalali said.

"As far as bilateral relations are concerned, a meeting with the Russian leader Vladimir Putin is planned, as well as bilateral meetings with other leaders and with the Iranian community, and a speech at the summit," he added.

On July 8, Putin congratulated Pezeshkian on his election victory. During a phone call, the two leaders expressed their readiness to sign a strategic cooperation agreement between Tehran and Moscow on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit.

The Kremlin confirmed that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has been invited to attend the BRICS summit in October.
