Iran PressAmerica: At the meeting of the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly, chaired by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet, Mohammad Zareian called the rise of unilateralism, a real global threat to the protection and promotion of human rights.

He stated that the impact and scope of illegal unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Iranian people have intensified even during the coronavirus outbreak.

Iran's representative to the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly added that the US government has targeted the political interests of Iranian citizens, especially the most vulnerable, including women, children, the elderly, and those in need of medical care, and this is nothing but economic terrorism.

Zareian lamented US unilateralism highlighting that tens of millions of people around the world have been subjected to unilateral coercive measures, but the necessary attention has not been paid to this crime and genocide caused by widespread human rights violations.

At the meeting of the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly, which was held in the presence of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, various countries expressed their views on human rights and their expectations from the commissariat and the Human Rights Council and asked their questions from the UN official.
