IP - At least 21 pilgrims including 7 Iranians and 14 Jordanians have died in the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia due to the extreme temperature and heatstroke in Mecca and Medina.

Iran Press/ West Asia: Chief of Iran Red Crescent Society, Pirhossein Koolivand said "Seven Iranian pilgrims have lost their lives so far in Mecca and Medina during the hajj this year.

Also, Jordan’s foreign ministry in a statement announced that 14 of its citizens had died during the Muslim Hajj pilgrimage, with 17 more missing.

Meanwhile, The weather forecast for Monday in Mecca predicts temperatures as high as 47 Celsius.

More than 1.8 million pilgrims attended Hajj this year to perform the annual five-day rituals of Hajj.

Temperatures were over 40 degrees Celsius during the annual pilgrimage.
