Iran's ambassador to Baghdad, Iraj Masjedi

The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baghdad expressed his condolences on the death of the spiritual father of the Yazidis of Iraq and the world.

Iran PressIran News: The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baghdad, Iraj Masjedi, in a message on Friday evening, expressed his regret over the death of "Sheikh Khartou Haji Ismail," the spiritual father and supreme authority of the Yazidis of Iraq and the world, wished forgiveness for him and patience for his family.

Sheikh Khartou Haji Ismail, known as "Baba Sheikh," the spiritual father and supreme religious authority of the Yazidis of Iraq and the world, died on Friday at the age of 87 in a hospital in Erbil, Iraq.

The late Haji Ismail was a member of the spiritual council of the Yazidi religion and had repeatedly praised the bravery of al-Hashd al-Shaabi in liberating the northwestern parts of Iraq from the clutches of ISIS terrorists.

The world's Yazidi population is estimated at about 550,000.
