Iran Press/ Europe: On Friday, Maria Zakharova lamented that the United States had pursued a policy of escalating tensions with Russia, saying that relations between Moscow and Washington were less likely to improve after the new US sanctions on Russian citizens.
Zakharova said at the meeting that Russia had never interfered in the US elections and did not intend to interfere in the election process of this country or any other country, adding: "Moscow dismisses Washington's claim that Russia interfered in the US election as baseless allegation, and no evidence has been provided to prove it."
The US Treasury Department on Wednesday sanctioned four Russian-linked individuals in connection with Washington's hostile actions against Moscow, claiming that they were trying to interfere in the November 3, 2020 US presidential election.
Some opponents of Trump have claimed that the Russian government intervened to win his 2016 US election; The allegation was never substantiated, despite extensive investigations by US agencies led by Special Investigator Robert Mueller.
Moscow has repeatedly denied any involvement in the US presidential election.
