Jahangiri to Diab Iran stands by Lebanon

Tehran (IP) - The first vice president of Iran, in a telephone conversation with the Lebanese Prime Minister, said, that despite the difficult conditions of sanctions, the Islamic Republic stands by the Lebanese government and people.

Iran Press/Iran News: Eshaq Jahangiri, the First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in a telephone conversation with Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab on Wednesday evening, expressed his condolences to the people and government of Lebanon saying: "Lebanon will remain steadfast and will pass this difficult test as before."

Announcing Iran's readiness to send the necessary aid to Lebanon, Jahangiri added: "Lebanon's stability and security are important for all countries in the region and the Lebanese government will deal with the perpetrators of this incident."

The First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran also called any sanctions against Lebanon in this situation cruel and anti-human rights and added: "Today, the first shipment of Iranian aid was sent to Lebanon by the Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran."

In this phone call, Hassan Diab, appreciating Iran's constant support for the Lebanese government and people, emphasized: Beirut and Lebanon will not give up and will stand again.

Lebanese Prime Minister added: "The situation in Beirut is critical, but with the help of friends, the situation goes back to normal just it was before the incident."

A warehouse at the Beirut Port caught fire on Tuesday afternoon, triggering a huge explosion.

The Lebanese Red Cross said in a statement that over 150 people were killed and more than 4,000 were injured.
