Tehran (IP) - The Paris-backed propagandist, Rouhollah Zam received the death penalty due to his numerous instances of acting against Iranian national security, the Spokesman of Iran's Judiciary noted.

Iran PressIran News: In a press conference on Tuesday, Gholamhossein Esmaili referred to the verdict issued over the trial of the Paris-backed anti-Iran propagandist Rouhollah Zam, noting that the verdict is preliminary.

Ruhollah Zam, the operator behind the Amad News website and Telegram channel he launched in 2015, was arrested by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in October 2019.  

He confessed in the second session of his trial that he had the highest security protection after French President Emmanuel Macron.

Pointing to the US assassination of the late Commander of Qods Force Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Lt. Gen. Qasem Soleimani, he emphasized the trail of the convicts contributed the US assassination. 

Esmaili noted that the court to try the killers of General Soleimani is held wherever is needed, either in the country or Iraq, adding that international bodies' help is also welcomed in case of need. 

He appreciated peoples' trust and contentment of the Judiciary's performance and said a national consensus is needed to complete the chain of prevention, identification, and elimination of corruption grounds. 104/207
