Turkish Parl. Speaker underscores importance of cooperation with Iran

Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa ?entop had a phone conversation with the Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, congratulating him on his election and discussing regional developments.

Iran PressAsia: During the telephone conversation, Qalibaf noted: "Friendly relations have always been established at the highest level between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Turkey. Iranian Parliament welcomes and supports any action to expand and develop relations between the two countries."

Emphasizing the importance of developing economic cooperation between the two countries, Qalibaf added: "Due to the importance of relations between the two countries, Iran-Turkey Parliamentary Friendship Group will be formed in the Islamic Consultative Assembly soon."

Qalibaf also stressed the importance of continuing the dialogue between Iran, Russia, and Turkey within the framework of the Astana agreement on Syria.

In another part of the conversation, the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament expressed hope that the level of economic and trade relations between the two countries would return to normal by controlling the coronavirus.

In the end, Mustafa ?entop condemned harsh sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran and officially invited Qalibaf to travel to Turkey.
