Tehran (IP) - President Hassan Rouhani stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran can overcome the Coronavirus crisis and contain the virus as soon as possible.

Iran Press/ ran News: Speaking at a weekly cabinet session on Wednesday, the President said that some use Coronavirus to their advantage by hiding masks and some hide behind masks to spread lies in society.

He gave reassurance that the crisis will be overcome as soon as possible with the least casualties with the work of the country’s medical staff and people’s cooperation, the official website of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran reported.

Hassan Rouhani went on to say that as the guardian of people’s health and business and securing people's livelihoods, the government fulfills its duty.

Rouhani also appreciated the wise decisions of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani for next year’s budget bill.

"The Leader also allowed the issue of the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad to be dealt with after the issue of protections needed to be made regarding Coronavirus," he said.

"I would like to thank the entire great Iranian nation in this special situation for helping us keep calm and hopeful so that we will be able to overcome this issue with patience," added Rouhani.

The President said that the COVID-19 disease is a global one that many countries in the world have become infected with, adding: "We must work together to tackle this problem as quickly as possible."

"The issue of public health is important to us, and all efforts are made to ensure that the people, our parents, our mothers, our young people, and the elderly and the sick, who are most exposed to the virus, can leave the matter behind."

"But alongside that, the mental security of society is also very important. Unfortunately, today, despite the majority of our society and everyone working together to help overcome this problem, some want to take advantage of this issue for their financial gain."

"On the other hand, there are also some who are active in the social and foreign media who hide behind the mask of compassion, but they are spreading false news to spread anxiety in our society and make our people anxious," Rouhani said.

"Our dear and honorable people should be aware that the responsibility is entrusted to the Ministry of Health, but all bodies are capable of pursuing parts of the affairs that are somehow related to them."

"Doctors and nurses are at the forefront and have shown great dedication, and I thank them all for not failing to perform their duties and doing their utmost. Some of them are working round the clock with very short breaks; even the respected Minister of Health, who I usually contact daily, has not taken a rest for one week or two," Rouhani stated.

"It is a heavy burden on all of us and I promise that the crisis will be overcome as soon as possible with the least casualties with the work of the country’s medical staff and people’s cooperation," he noted.

Those who pretend to help Iran, better lift the drug sanctions

"Unfortunately, those who even imposed drugs and food sanctions on people have done the most vicious act against the Iranian people in these two years; they came up with a mask of compassion pretending to help the Iranian people; you had better lift the drug sanctions at least if you're right," Iran's President said.

"Our people know very well that you are lying; you are not telling the truth;

He also thanked all the governments and countries that have helped the country and are ready to help, saying: "They have sent equipment and are still ready for sending medicine and equipment to Iran."

Iran's Health Ministry Spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour in his daily news conference on Wednesday told to the reporters that 552 people recovered from COVID-19 disease.

Jahanpour said so-far in total 2922 people have infected with the Coronavirus and 92 people have died.

The outbreak of the Coronavirus began in December 2019 in Wuhan, China, and apparently originated from animals. The virus has now spread to 70 countries in addition to 30 Chinese provinces.

More than 3,100 people have died and over 93,000 have been infected worldwide. The vast majority of cases are in China.
