Iran Press/Europe: Shahnameh is the greatest work by Iranian famous poet Abul-Qasem Ferdowsi who spent nearly 30 years of his life writing it.
Abul-Qasem Ferdowsi Tusi was a Persian poet and the author of Shahnameh ("Book of Kings"), which is one of the world's longest epic poem created by a single poet, and the national epic of Greater Iran. Ferdowsi is celebrated as the most influential figure in Persian literature and one of the greatest in the history of literature.
Shahnameh is also one of the most important and famous epic poems in the world which has been translated and published in many languages.
The first person in Europe who has translated parts of Shahnameh into French was Louis-Mathieu Langlès, a French author and orientalist.
After that, Gilbert Lazard also rewrote excerpts from Shahnameh stories from Jules Muhl's translation.
