King Abdullah II confirmed that Jordan's relationship with the Zionist Regime of Israel is worse than ever due to the refusal of Amman's to renew a land lease agreement with Tel Aviv.

Iran PressMiddle East: Speaking at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy in New York, Abdullah said on Friday that he was not ready to forego the peace that "my father and Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin achieved as a symbol of hope and opportunity for Palestinians, Jordanians, and Israelis."

Pointing to the criminal charges filed against outgoing prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and political turmoil immobilizing Israel's political system, the king said, "we hope that Israel will be able to determine its future, either in the coming weeks or in the coming months."

Tensions have flared between Israel and Jordan after Amman announced that it would not renew a 25-year land lease agreement reached during peace negotiations in 1994.

Earlier this month, the Jordanian areas of Baqura and Ghamr were placed back under the full sovereignty of the Hashemite kingdom.

Israeli entities have been exploiting the lands for decades.
