Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov

Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the US efforts to keep its troops in Syria to exploit the Arab country's oil fields.

Iran PressEurope: Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov on Friday slammed US actions in Syria, especially those regarding the country’s oil fields, Sputnik reported.

He also said that US operations in Syria must be stopped and US forces must leave Syria.

"Syrian oil wells must be out of reach of ISIS agents, and current US actions do not resolve the crisis in the Arab country," he underlined.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister further condemned US President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw military forces from northern Syria and keep a number of them in the oil fields of the country, adding that with the US actions some ISIS militants have returned once again and become a danger to the region.

Russia has always said the US military presence in northern Syria is aimed at looting its oil resources.
