Isfahan (IP) - The symbolic Chogan (Persian term for Polo) match was held on Thursday at Naghsh-e Jahan Square in Iran's central city of Isfahan to commemorate the memory of martyred Lieutenant-General Qasem Soleimani and the Ten-Day Dawn.

Iran PressIran news: This Symbolic Chogan match has been held in conjunction with the introduction of Isfahan as a symbol of tourism in the 2020 plans at the Naghsh-e Jahan Square.

Isfahan, a city with a variety of historical, cultural and artistic centers, is the most important destination for Iranian and foreign tourists.

Chogan is an ancient Iranian sport that nowadays has become a global sport. The Chogan game was first played in 600 BC in ancient Persia and this had happened at the time of the Achaemenids.

Chogan game then flourished during the Safavid era. Historical documents have shown that Shah Abbas has been played Chogan.

Naqsh-e Jahan Square was built for playing Chogan.
