The Civil Aviation Organization of Iran (CAOI) says the body is ready to resume flights from Iran to Syria.

Iran PressIran news: Hossein Pourfarzaneh announced on Tuesday that to resume Iranian flights to Syria, permission must be issued by the destination country to the CAOI.

Syrian media reported that Damascus International Airport resumed operation today - Tuesday, January 8. 

The flights from Damascus airport were suspended after the fall of the Bashar al-Assad government on December 8, 2024.

Previously, Pourfarzaneh announced a ban on flights to Syria, specifically the cities of Damascus and Latakia, until January 22, 2025, and said: "We are waiting for an announcement from Syria to resume flights to this country."

He said that flights to Lebanon were underway and there was no problem in this regard.

With respect to Egypt as a flight destination, the head of the CAOI said that flights to Egypt are currently operated on special missions, and businessmen can travel to the country through other means by obtaining a visa.
