Iran Press/Europe: In a statement posted on the EU Foreign Service website on Friday evening, Joseph Borrell stated that at the meeting, the implementation of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), as well as the effects of the US withdrawal from the agreement and the re-imposition of sanctions, which is regretted by all remaining members of JCPOA, will be discussed.
The EU foreign policy chief noted that due to restrictions imposed by the Coronavirus crisis, it has not been possible to hold meetings of the Joint Commission.
Referring to the consultations he has had with JCPOA members during this period, he added that all the participants have expressed their determination to maintain this agreement, which is in everyone's interest.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Seyed Abbas Mousavi announced two weeks ago that the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif, in a letter to EU foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell, reiterated the non-compliance of European countries with Clause 36 of JCPOA and referred this to the Joint Commission for settlement.
Mousavi also added: "Zarif's letter to Borrell was issued after the irresponsible and illegal action of three European governments, (Germany, Britain and France) in submitting a draft resolution to the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, as well as the continuing non-compliance with international obligations under the JCPOA."
