The chief spokesperson of the European Union's foreign policy chief Josep Borrell described his recent meeting with Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly as very important.

Iran PressEurope: In a news briefing in Brussels, Peter Stano stated that in this meeting, the two sides discussed the sanctions-lifting negotiations, human rights issues, and Iran's alleged support to Russia in the Ukraine war.

"In this meeting, Burrell asked Iran to behave in a way that the European Union expects, conveying the message of the EU Troika," said Stano.

Borrell's spokesman added, "Diplomacy is a process and a single meeting does not solve all problems."

On Wednesday, Amir-Abdollahian and Borrell reviewed the latest developments regarding the sanctions-lifting negotiations.

Ali Bagheri, Political Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and head of Iran's nuclear negotiating team, was also present at this meeting.

During the meeting, the European Union, as the coordinator of the nuclear negotiations, announced its readiness to diligently pursue the necessary talks and consultations.

The two sides stated that based on a common framework, they would take practical steps and provide the basis for understanding as much as possible.
