Birjand (IP): Iran's Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts paid a visit to the tourist sites, including the Kolah Farangi Citadel in Birjand, during his trip to South Khorasan Province.

Iran PressIran news: According to Iranpress, "Ezzatollah Zarghami" visited different parts of this historical and beautiful touristic building in Birjand on Saturday evening.

Kolah Ferangi Citadel is one of the historical and tourist monuments of Birjand City, the capital of South Khorasan province. This beautiful and spectacular based on Iranian architecture was built in the Qajar epoch.

Coinciding with the presence of the Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Iran at Kolah Farangi Citadel, the National Photo Festival of the Lasting Heritage of South Khorasan was held in this historical site.

Zarghami said that the lasting heritage of South Khorasan Province is a symbol of Iranian civilization, architecture, and art, and seeing the images of the Lasting Heritage Festival is like visiting historical attractions, tourism, nature, crafts, and anthropology throughout South Khorasan Province.

During the presence of the Minister of Tourism of Iran in the historical monument of Kolah Farangi Citadel, traditional music, and handicrafts of South Khorasan province were performed and displayed in a bid to promote tourism in this eastern province of Iran.

When tourists travel to South Khorasan province, they visit the historical monument of Birjand Kolah Farangi Citadel and enjoy the beauty of Iranian art and architecture.

Kolah Farangi Citadel (Also known as Sarkar Citadel) was built during the late Zand and early Qajar eras between 1848 and 1895. This unique landmark, constructed by Amir Hassan Khan Sheibani, consists of a garden, stable, bathhouse, offices, and a reception hall. Its structure has a hexagonal base and a white conical top. It is white in color and construction materials consist of brick and limestone. Kolah Farangi Citadel was registered as a national cultural heritage site number 1880. At present, it houses the South Khorasan governor’s office and storage space.
