Iran Press/ Iran News: Observing the health protocols prescribed by the National Task Force of Combating Coronavirus, mourning groups began the procession from the early hours of the morning, chanting elegies, beating chests, and crying tears for Imam Hussain (AS) and his faithful companions.
Today, Sunday (August 30, 2020), the tenth day of Muharram 1442 AH, is the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Imam of the Shi'a Muslims, who was martyred on the 10th of Muharram in the year 61 AH in Karbala at the age of 57.
Imam Hussain (AS) was a grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and was martyred along with 72 of his family members and companions in 680 A.D. in a land that is known today as Iraq, after they refused to pledge allegiance to the tyrant of the time, Yazid.
The Battle of Karbala between a small group of supporters and relatives of Imam Hussein (PBUH) and a larger military detachment from the forces of the caliph represents a war between good and evil.
Amid the asymmetric war and with the arrival of prayer time, Imam Hussain (AS) announced that he wanted to offer his prayer, but as he began to worship Allah, the enemies began to attack and not let Imam say his prayer. Some of Imam's companions shielded him and other companions so they can worship.
Saying a prayer is a scheduled wajib (religious task) in Islam, while the enemies claim they were Muslims!
