Russia (IP) –Russian artists performed Tayzie theater in the Russian language at the Islamic Center of Moscow on Ashura night, the occasion of Imam Hussain's martyrdom.

Iran PressEurope: Ashura is the 10th day of Muharram. In 61 AH (October 10, 680 CE), Imam Hussein (AS) and his true companions were martyred in the battle against the army of then-time tyrant Yazid I, led by 'Umar b. Sa'd.

According to an old tradition, the Russian Shia people observe mourning rituals from Tasua evening, ninth of Muharram, and keep it on until noon of Ashura, tenth of Muharram.

Staying awake on Asura night and mourning for the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) is an old custom among the Russian Shia people.

The Iranian Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, participated in the mourning rituals among the mourners.

Referring to the recent desecration of the Quran in European countries, he said the enemies of Islam seek to harm Islam by desecrating the holy Quran. Still, as long as the memory of Imam Hussain (AS) and Ahlul-Bayt is alive in the hearts of the world's people, the Quran and Islam are also alive.
