Iran Press/ Africa: Each year followers of Ahlulbayt who could not go to Iraq due to health or economic reasons conduct the Arbaeen symbolic trek from many parts of Nigeria to Husainiyya Baqhiyyatullah in Zaria City, the center of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria where Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky deliver a speech on the plight of Karbala massacre.
Now that the Husainiyya was destroyed in 2015 during the Zaria massacre by the Nigerian Government, the followers of Ahlulbayt trek from the seven axes to Abuja, the country's capital.
In his speech to journalists about the trek, a Senior member of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ahmad Yusuf Yashi, said: "We used to conduct the trek just to symbolize what happened with the members of the holy Household of the Prophet of Islam after martyring Imam Husain, his family and companions, where Sayyeda Zainab and the remaining supporters of Ahlulbayt including women and children were forced to trek from Karbala of Iraq to palace of Yazid in Damascus, Syria."

He further said,": There are about seven axes that the Muslim Brotherhood in Nigeria used to gather and conduct this trek, we have the Kano, Kastina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kaduna, Bauchi and Plateau axis"
"Before 2015, we used to trek from the starting point of this Bauchi axis up to Zaria, where we meet the leader. From there, he gives the closing remarks and people return to their states. From 2015, after the Buhari regime descended on the Islamic movement, especially our leader, killing hundreds of people, the Government took it upon itself to prevent this trek, particularly in Kaduna state."
During the Arbaeen symbolic trek in Nigeria, members of the community, especially in towns and villages, are enlightened about what happened to Imam Husain (as).
Arbaeen comes 40 days after the Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussain (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him and his Progeny).
Arbaeen remains the most significant religious gathering in the world as more than 20 million pilgrims from different continents gathered in Iraq to mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hussain(AS).
