Tehran (IP) - Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs held a telephone conversation with the Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister on Wednesday, discussing bilateral relations, the global spread of COVID-19, and the latest regional and international developments.

Iran Press/Iran news: Referring to the global spread of the coronavirus and the need for cooperation of all countries to curb the disease, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi pointed to the unlawful and unilateral US sanctions against the Iranian people amid the coronavirus, emphasizing the need for the international community to stand up to illegal and inhuman US sanctions.

The two officials discussed and exchanged views about the next round of political consultations between the two countries in Oslo, regional developments, including the Hormoz peace initiative, peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan, the latest developments in Iraq and the need to continue humanitarian aid to Yemen. 

Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister Tore Hattrem emphasized the country's multilateral policy in the global arena and assistance to international institutions to ensure the health of the people, as well as the continuation of consultations with Iran to preserve security and stability in the Persian Gulf and West Asia.

Tore Hattrem invited the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs to pay a visit to Oslo after the coronavirus crisis.
