In a recent address, President Bashar al-Assad emphasized the urgent need to halt the ongoing massacres, genocide, and ethnic cleansing perpetrated by the "Zionist entity" while advocating for the restoration of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

Iran Press/West Asia: Speaking at the extraordinary Arab and Islamic summit held in Riyadh to discuss the repercussions of the Israeli continued aggression on the Palestinian territories and Lebanon and the latest developments in the region, President al-Assad said, “A year has passed and the crime continues. Are we meeting today to replicate past failures, or to change the course of our future?” He noted that last year's efforts to stop aggression and protect Palestinians resulted in tens of thousands of martyrs and millions displaced in Palestine and Lebanon. He recalled that in 2002, Arab nations proposed a peace initiative, but it was met with further massacres against Palestinians.

The second emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League began on Monday with the presence of political officials and leaders of more than 50 Muslim countries in Riyadh.

Mohammadreza Aref, the first vice president of Iran has participated in it.

“While it is crucial to work toward restoring all legitimate rights, our immediate priority must be to stop the massacres, genocide, and ethnic cleansing,” the Syrian president asserted. President al-Assad expressed confidence that popular and official tools exist among Arab and Muslim nations to address these issues effectively. He posed critical questions regarding their collective response: “Do we express our anger again? Do we condemn? Do we appeal to the international community or resort to boycotts? What is our executive plan?”

We are dealing with herds of settlers closer to barbarism than humanity

Assad warned that failing to act would make them complicit in ongoing atrocities. “We are not dealing with a state in the legal sense but with an outlaw colonial entity,” he stated, describing those responsible for the violence as “herds of settlers closer to barbarism than humanity.”

President Assad criticized the notion that the problem lies solely with the current extremist government in Israel. He argued that the government and its people share a singular ideological mindset driven by bloodshed and a delusion of superiority.

“The targets of our meeting today are clear; they define our challenges,” he said. “We must ensure that good intentions do not lead to further suffering for the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples who have endured decades of hardship due to misplaced goodwill.”

In conclusion, President al-Assad expressed hope for a successful meeting that would yield effective decisions, stressing that dialogue with aggressors must not be conducted through the lens of legality or morality but should instead focus on tangible actions that protect lives.
