The Arab League Secretary-General met with the Jordanian Foreign Minister on Sunday to discuss Syria's return to the Arab League.

Iran PressMiddle East: Speaking to reporters in the Jordanian capital after meeting Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi told reporters that the two sides emphasized the need for an end to the Syrian crisis and the need to play an Arab role as a result of which Syria would return to its pivotal role in the Arab world.

The Arab League suspended Syria's membership in 2011 following pressure from the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia in the wake of the Syrian crisis. Most Arab countries also severed diplomatic ties with Damascus by closing their embassies.

Now with the victory of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's government over terrorists and the defeat of the Arab-Western conspiracy in the country, the Arab League and many of the region's Arab countries are struggling to resume relations and reopen their embassies in Damascus.

The crisis in Syria began in 2011 with the widespread aggression of terrorist groups backed by Saudi Arabia, the US, and their allies to change the region's equations in favor of the Zionist regime.

The Syrian military has recently been able to close the case of the Daesh terrorist group in the country with the help of Iranian advisers.
