British foreign secretary, Jeremy Hunt, says London wants to resolve the ongoing crisis with Tehran, following Iran's seizure of a British oil tanker which took a sudden turn into Iranian waters.

Iran Press/Europe: "Yesterday's action in the Persian Gulf shows worrying signs Iran may be choosing a dangerous path of illegal and destabilising behaviour after Gibraltar’s [alleged] legal detention of oil bound for Syria," Jeremy Hunt claimed in a tweet on Saturday.

"I said yesterday our reaction will be considered but robust. We have been trying to find a way to resolve Grace1 issue but WILL ensure the safety of our shipping," he added according to Iran Press.

Meanwhile, the German and French foreign ministries have separately asked Iran to release the British oil tanker.

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement on Friday that it has captured a British oil tanker for breaching international maritime law while crossing the Strait of Hormuz.

According to this statement, the vessel named 'Stena Impero' had been impounded “at the request of Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Organization when passing through the Strait of Hormuz, for failing to respect international maritime rules.”

The IRGC naval forces have also warned a second British-owned and Liberian-flagged tanker, MV Mesdar, about various safety issues and have allowed the tanker to continue its course towards the Saudi port of Ras Tanura. 101/211
