The Iranian Foreign Minister has said the power of Islamic Iran is based upon the people, and the top priority for the government is to reduce the high cost of living for this great nation.

Iran Press/Iran news: "Today power is measured not just by political, economic and military clout. The yardsticks of power are much more varied today. Today culture and selfless devotion are also a measure -- a yardstick -- of power,"  Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Saturday.

"The progress that Islamic Iran has made is certainly indebted to the resistance and resilience of the Iranian people," he added speaking at a ceremony on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the liberation of Iranian prisoners-of-war (POWs).

According to an Iran Press report, Zarif noted, "There is no doubt about that. All of Iran's progress is due to the brilliance and talents of the Iranian people, and that has been hard-achieved, in spite of unfair sanctions from this or that major power."

The foreign minister went on to say, "Whatever we have is down to the Iranian people. The power of Islamic Iran is based upon the people. The martyrs of the revolution, those who have offered their limbs in service of their country, and freed former prisoners-of-war are the best examples of selfless sacrifice and resistance of the Iranian people. Whatever blessings Islamic Iran has are due to the great Iranian nation." 101/211
