Iran Press/ Europe: The workers, who were both for the private and public sectors, did not work for Friday and called on the Meloni administration to improve their salaries, welfare services, and healthcare services, protesting to the reduction of public expenditures and social welfare financial credit.
Weekly rallies, besides the strikes, against Meloni's economic policies are going on in Rome and other major Italian cities.
One of the managers in the Italian major labor syndicate CGIL, Ivan Pedretti, told an IranPress correspondent in Rome: "Public healthcare should be available to all people; Today, in Italy, between 3.5 to 4 million people are unable to pay for their treatment, and 80 percent of these people are elderly."
There is no public medical insurance anymore in the country and as every institute has been privatized, many families are not able to handle their medical expenses.
According to the report of Italy's National Institute of Statistics, more than 5.6 million people live in absolute poverty in the country and charities have mobilized to help the poor. 204
